We've had a little time to explore our new neighborhood and are LOVING it!! This is such a cool spot. Our apartment complex sits right on top of a bustling marina, pier and entertainment area with shops, restaurants, fresh fish markets, etc. You walk down a series of landscaped paths (and lots of stairs... Annie is loving being stroller-free!) and there are cascading levels of activity. You can kind of make this out on the picture above. The top level are our apartments, then there is a bike path level that we'll explore today - leading to miles of beachside paths, next there is a boardwalk level lined with coffee shops, a fresh fish market, an arcade, gift shops, bars and restaurants. This all overlooks the beautiful marina. Across from the marina is the large pier jutting out over the ocean.
Annie was in HEAVEN exploring it all yesterday. She loved the birds, ducks and squirrels (and stopped to say hello and blow a kiss to each one), was fascinated by watching the waves crash over the rocks (I think she said hello and blew kisses to those too!), and had a ball running into all the people we encountered. There were several 'salty' older fishermen having a beer in an open-air bar overlooking the marina and they were especially smitten with Annie. She had on her first pair of Crocs yesterday and those were a big hit.
So we're off to a great start and just thrilled with our surroundings. There's so much going on and so much to see and do. I was up at 6am exploring and taking pictures... but Patrick and Annie seem to have had no problem adjusting to the time change and are still alseep at 8am.
