Today's adventure took us into LA to do some exploring (...and I'll admit it - I wasn't adverse to spotting a celebrity or two!). We made the obligatory stop for coffee at the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf - but, alas, there was no Katie Holmes to be found. We then made a quick stop at Mann's Chinese Theatre to see the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Kodak Theatre. The area was mobbed with mostly Asian tourists and we got a kick out of seeing which stars they were taking photos of... Eric Estrada seemed to be a big hit! We're thinking CHIPS may have just made it overseas. :)
Our next stop was the LA Farmer's Market. We sampled Pinkberry frozen yogurt (very good and an especially big hit with our 2 and under demographic) and hit up a fruit/vegetable stand for some fun finds... whole apricots (I'm not sure I've ever seen one), mango, papaya, coconut, etc. Afterwards, we had lunch at Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles (only so-so... but fun to have checked out what all the fuss is about. Next time we'll check out one of my cousin Taryn's Thai or Korean recs!). We then walked over to a great spot for viewing the Hollywood sign and got some pics.
Before heading home, we stopped in at Susina's Bakery, where Taryn worked while attending UCLA the past few years. We picked up some things to take home and some to send to Taryn - they all looked delicious. Annie enjoyed greeting everyone in the store. One lady commented that she must be running for Mayor. :)
We took the scenic drive back to Redondo.... weaving through Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Brentwood, and Santa Monica. It was another beautiful day that we wrapped up by playing with a beach ball on a grassy spot overlooking the ocean outside our apartment.
Patrick CLAIMS he's going to start work tomorrow. What a buzz kill. :) Thank goodness Annie and I have plenty to check out while he's toiling away to support our new lifestyle.
:)
